Helen Brenna's Treasure won the 2008 Rita for Series Romantic Suspense. (That's not the correct title, but you get the idea.) I was very impressed with the depth of the characters' conflict, the details about the treasure hunt plot, and how much I enjoyed the scenes of life on a boat.

Helen's writing was smooth and rich. I don't read much romantic suspense so I can't really comment on that aspect with any authority but I thought it worked.

I will say that the cover of this book doesn't do it any favors. The characters are both older and much more sophisticated than you'd think based on the cover. I'm not saying that as a knock on the book, just on the chance that someone who might hesitate to pick this up based on the cover will give it a try. (I hope this is an okay thing to say.)

Definitely a good book and an author I'll be reading again!
