While part of the NASCAR, Secrets and Legends series, this tale did not revolve around the racing world. This was the introduction of Branch family into the foray of the series. While we’d met both drivers Will and Bart in previous books, we are introduced to the rest of this Texas family and primarily to their older sister, Penny and her soon to be ex husband, Craig
.
When a father disappears with monies from his various holdings, his family is thrust into turmoil. For Bart and Will, this is their NASCAR funding drying up, for younger brother Sawyer, this is his payment for gambling debts, for Mother, Maeve, it’s a complete way of life and for Penny, who has a secret of her own, it’s the loss of trust in ones parent. If were not for Craig, her soon to be ex-husband, how could they weather this storm?
Craig is the epitome of a great hero. He has integrity, values and deep love for not only his family, but the Branch family as well. He helps his family in a time of crisis, works with Penny’s during their struggles, all while trying to sort out his future on the job front and his marriage to Penny.
This is a story of what happens when you’re afraid to trust and how much it heals when a long kept secret is finally revealed. It shows how people can triumphant over adversity and keep their heads when faced with gossip and innuendo.
So, if you’re not sure about a NASCAR book, check this one out. It has some elements of the racing world, but doesn’t revolve around it complete. I think you’ll feel many emotions while rooting for Craig and Penny to find there way back to one another.
