Sloane Burbank was an agent with the F.B.I. until her hand was wounded in a stabbing causing her to leave the bureau. She is now a private consultant and speaker. Sloan gets a phone call from her former childhood friend’s mother who wants to hire her to find Penny. Sloan does not hesitate to commit to helping find her missing childhood friend. Penny has been missing for nearly a year and the case has grown cold but Sloane is determined to find out what happened to her friend.

She decides to start by using her former position to get help and access to the records of the F.B.I. agent in charge of the case. This just happens to be her former lover, Derek Parker. Sloane and Derek had strong feelings for each other but after the stabbing, things fell apart. There was no closure for them and things are very tense between them.

Derek is currently working on a case involving the Chinese mafia and a series of murdered prostitutes. As Sloane searches for her friend, she starts to uncover a series of missing women who appear to have been abducted by the same person who took Penny, many with ties to Sloane. There may also be a link to the murdered prostitutes of Derek’s case.

The killer is obsessed with Greek mythology and names his victims for Greek goddesses. His prize is Sloane and he will stop at nothing to get her.

I enjoyed this lasted suspense by AK. Every man seemed to be a possible suspect causing me to change my mind several times as to who the bad guy was. This was more a suspense then romance. Very good and entertaining.
