Jewel Hedley decided to throw caution to the wind and indulge in a one-night stand, only to discover that her one-night stand was her new boss, Piers Anetakis. Shortly after discovering that Jewel is to be his new assistant, he has to leave on a business trip. Piers has a strict policy about not mixing business and his personal life so he calls human resources to get rid of Jewel as his assistant(he asked human resources to either transfer her or pay her the complete 4 week wages, but all hr heard was get rid of her). So now Jewel has no job and no money. She heads back to San Francisco. There she can live rent-free in a friend’s apartment. Then she discovers she is pregnant. 5 months later she becomes ill. The doctor advises her that she needs to quit her job. She has no choice but to call Piers. After he so callously discarded her from his life, would he even want to be a father? And why does he insist on marriage if he doesn’t believe the child is his?

I found Piers very Alpha therefore Jewel got on my nerves because she was constantly arguing with Piers. I felt Piers’s turnaround was too fast. I could go on and on about all the reasons I didn’t like Piers, but I want to keep review short, plus don’t want to spoil it for anyone. Jewel was definely a strong h for putting up was Piers's moods. Bella from the previous book, The Tycoon’s Rebel Bride is hilarious in this. I laughed so hard when her, Marley (The Tycoon’s Pregnant Mistress) and Jewel were together. To me the title didn’t suit the story. IMO an affair implies more than a one-night stand. But that’s just me.
