This was about grandparents and their grandson and his wife . . . the young wife has a past that could hold back the grandson in his career and so she thinks that they should divorce. The grandmother sends the guys to town and from there we get the story of how the grandmother became a prostitute at 16 y.o. in order to feed her family prior to WWII and how the grandfather loved her and served in WWII. The POV varies from the grandma telling the young wife and the grandpa telling his gson, so many incidents told from both perspectives. The love between the grandparents was amazing. The story unfolded nicely and had a funny twist at the end. I enjoyed it but wish it had pulled me in more. The descriptions were fantastic, though, and really made me think about that older generation. NFM

I loved the way he wrote his hero. I am curious about whether his other heroes are such a draw. I don't normally read for the hero one way or another but this was a book I read last year thast sort of made me think about the hero more than other books I had read.
