Zane Bastiani is returning home after nine long years as his father is in hospital breathing his last. Zane had left home after a confrontation with his father and had not been in touch with him since. Zane's father Laurence was a very rich Owner of a Pearl Corporation. Zane arrives too late to meet his father. Although, he does meet Ruby by his father's death bed and Misconstrues her to be Laurance's mistress having seen her picture along with his dad's in various newspapers in the time he had been away. Ruby in fact is a very talented jewel designer and also belonging to one of the richest families in Broome. But unaware of her rich background Zane continues to despise her thinking she is a gold digger. Ruby also lets him believe the worst of her as she is very attracted to Zane and thinks that by letting him think the worst of her she can keep him at bay. But their mutual attraction as well as the strange requirement of Laurance's will keeps them together.
Overall an interesting book and the way the story proceeds is quite interesting. The passion between Zane & Ruby is really sizzling. I enjoyed reading it.
