A fantasy setting that mixes medieval and modern type settings. Doesn't sound like it should work, but Patricia Briggs works her magic and makes this storyline a page turner.
Lord Kerim has a murderer in his midst and needs to find out who it is fast. Shamera is a witch and a thief who has developed a reputation for being the best at what she does. With noplace else to turn Sham is enlisted to help Lord Kerim find the murderer.
In PB fashion, the story takes many unexpected twists and bringing her hearlded magic to the reader.
