When He Was Bad by Shelly Laurenston and Cynthia Eden

In Shelly Laurenston's Miss Congeniality, Niles Van Holtz is intrigued by Irene Conridge, a prodigy who has had his attention since he first saw her on a college campus. Though Irene generally comes across as a cold, unfeeling genius, Van finally breaks through the ice around her emotions when he has to save her from a neighboring pack of hyenas as well as a pride of lions. Though the initially fight their connection after it's forged, they eventually give in. The other elements after Irene add a little extra spice to this fun little tale.

In Cynthia Eden's Wicked Ways, the unsuspecting Miranda Shaw ends up on a date with a vampire planning to suck her dry only to be saved by her new neighbor, Cain Lawson. Cain is a jaguar shifter who is a former FBI agent. Though he has formally retired, he takes control of the case when his former partner shows up to deal with the vampire. Lucky for him, Miranda absorbs his true nature rather easily and doesn't run from him like he expected. Instead, she sticks to him and helps him bring down the vampire. Another fun little read.
