She didn’t know what she wanted until he made her beg for it... Morgan O’Malley has seen a lot of kinky things as the hostess of a cable sex talk show. But she’s never met a man like Jack Cole before. A self-proclaimed dominant, he’s as alpha as a male can get—and good for Morgan to have around when an obsessed stalker ratchets up his attempts to get to her. Though Jack is a bodyguard, Morgan feels anything but safe in his presence. Because slowly and seductively, Jack is bringing her deepest fantasies to the surface. And when he bends her to his will, what’s more shocking than her surrender is how much she enjoys it—and starts to crave his masterful touch. A willing player in Jack’s games, Morgan knows that his motives aren’t pure, but she has no idea how personal they are...
My thoughts
I’ll start by saying that I accept that this book may not be for everyone. It deals with some situations that may not be comfortable for certain readers. It is sexually graphic and pushes a lot of limits.
I have bought and read various books involving D/s relationships in the past and have never really enjoyed them. The problem with them was that not all of them were romances and most, if not all of them, were to crude for my taste. I bought Wicked Ties after a recommendation from a fellow reader, whose opinion I value, but I never read it due to the previous books that contained similar subject matter. That being said, Wicked Ties is beautifully written and incredibly erotic. My friend was right, I did love this book and I have already started on the second book Decadent, which involves a character we meet in Wicked Ties.
Morgan was such a believable character. I loved her sass and her need to voice her opinion. And even though there were moments in the book where I thought that if this were real life I’d be warning Morgan about her behavior I reminded myself that this is fiction and written for enjoyment, not a manual on how a person should live their life.
And Jack, I don’t even know where to start with him. He was very complex with many layers of character that was so lovable and such a hard ass all at the same time. I had moments where I wanted to smack him up side his head and then there were other times that I caught myself sighing over his comments and concern. Literally, sighing.
The interaction between Morgan and Jack is wonderful, at moments even electric. There was so much chemistry, so many sparks. I think that it takes a large amount of talent for an author to manage an emotionally charged book with such eroticism. Shayla Black obviously has that talent. This book not only has hot sex but engages a reader’s heart throughout the story. And somehow she also managed to squeeze in a mystery involving a stalker who has followed Morgan through a move, sends her threatening letters, has invaded her privacy and also shot at her.
Wicked Ties is a very sexy read with well established characters. It left me wanting to start the next book as soon as I finished the last page of reading it. If you enjoy reading erotic romance I highly recommend this book.
Interesting information: The author, Shayla Black, also writes as Shelley Bradley. She has written historical, paranormal and contemporary romance. If you are interested in her work I recommend checking out her website. I found it useful for acquiring her backlist of books. It is my new mission to find all of her books and read them. (I know more books for my TBR right?) http://www.shaylablack.com/
Also she has a new paranormal series coming out in August called Doomsday Brethren. I’ve already ordered it and I can’t wait! She is running a contest on her site for an ARC. Just click on contest on her website.

Well written
I read this about a year or so ago. I liked it very much. While there was lots of boundary pushing sex, it was very much a story about two people falling in love. It's sequel was not as good.
Decadent
I am really enjoying it so far.
