Christmas with Eve {It Happened One Night}

I didn't think I was going to enjoy this book but it turned out to be very interesting. The hero was a very caring person and willing to wait for what he wanted. The heroine had some really bad past experiences with men all the way back to never knowing her father because he left her mother before she was born. Her mother influenced her negative feelings towards marriage and she had a hard time accepting the hero for the person he was.

Eve Vaughn was a professor of human sexuality at Middleton University. She had plans to go visit a friend over the Christmas break but never got there. A sudden blizzard stranded her and she had to spend a couple of days at a Bed and Breakfast instead. While she was there she met Max Elliott. They immediately connected and spent the night in bed together even though it wasn't something either usually did.
Neither of them knew a whole lot about the other although Max did find out that he would be meeting Eve again after their time at the B&B because they would both be teaching at Middleton and he planned on learning more about her and getting to know her better. Eve had left the B&B one morning without letting Max know she was going or even telling him where she lived or much of anything about herself. He has a great desire not to loose track of her and to get to know her better so he had looked in her purse while she was asleep to find out where she lived and worked.

Blurb ~~ "TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS...
And all through the inn, not a creature was stirring.... Except normally uptight college prof Eve Vaughn and the gorgeous sexy stranger she'd met. They were sharing the most passionate night of their lives together. In the morning Eve would sneak away, determined not to see him again.
Fate? Kismet? Max couldn't explain his hard and fast feelings for Eve. She was a special gift he'd enjoyed unwrapping in the privacy of her bedroom. A gift he had no intention of giving up on Christmas morn!"

This was another from my oldest TBR pile. I love this author's books most of her others I've read have been humorous but this was a very emotional book and I cried a lot. It was a good follow-up after laughing my way through Finger Lickin' Fifteen. In this one Delia was directing her father's final film and it had to be perfect so she needed the best actor for the second male lead.

His grandfather gave Cameron an ultimatum; he'd either marry within thirty days or lose the toy company he lavished all his time and energy into. This was an older but good read and I really like this author's writing. I have a few more of hers I haven't read. Very Good! NFM

Christmas With Eve (HT #614 - 12/96)

5 hearts ~ This story was written in 1996, but it is eternally timeless. It's also a story that will remain with me a long while: the H, Max, was amazing... and his courthship of Eve was far more than hearts-and-flowers romance or the temptation of sizzling sex.

Christmas with Eve

Fake Frenchie

Eve has a one night stand with Max, who is a perfect specimen of a male human, and runs out.  Then when she meets him on the job, she takes up with him again.  But when he proposes, she gets cold feet.

I liked the first part of this book, but then when Eve got cold feet, I was so mad at her. Sheesh!

I found some Elda Minger books at a Thrift Store last year and I'm working on reading some of my older books. Her books are great, full of humor, with some interesting pet stories. How could a reunion go so bad? Well if you have friends like Meg it's not hard. Meg sold one book but coming back for her reunion she's this successful author.....

While I am trying to get ready to move I've been relying on some older books I have in the TBR pile.  It is kind of fun to see how the books are holding up to the test of time!

That said I am going to cheat as I am in crunch time for more packing, physically moving, etc.  The following is copied from the back cover of the book:

#496 The Last Seduction by Elda Minger (Temptation #590)

Sadhbh

Jake and Christy had been in love but she sent him away because she thought she was pregnant (false alarm) and it would have ruined his chances at success. Twelve years later he's back, determined to get revenge, but they realise their love never died. Can they have a belated HEA?

Hot Chocolate

rachelannmac

Four short cute stories about hot chocolate and how it is a
seducer of men and women, and can be used to catch the one you want!  Good stories!
